Distracted Driving Law bans use of hand-held devices while driving

Starting Thursday, June 5, 2025, holding your phone when driving – even at a red light – is illegal.   The law provides that beginning June 5, 2025, written warnings shall be issued for violations and traffic stops can be initiated for violations as a primary offense.   Beginning June 5, 2026, citations can be issued.
